The inaugural meeting of SERO (Socio Economic and Rural Advancement Association) was held at Mohanganj, Netrokona.
The meeting was held at 10:30 am on Monday (January 11) in the Upazila Hallroom in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the NGO Sera.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Orifuzzaman presided over the training of the best. In the performance of Khairul Islam Akand, Upazila Mahila Vice Chairman Tahmina Akhter Shanta, Executive Director of Sera SM Mojibur Rahman, Project Director Dr. Shawkat Akbar Fakir, Upazila Fisheries Officer Humayun Kabir, Animal Resources Officer, Agriculture Officer Mostafa Kamal, FAO representative Jayant Bhatracharya and others. Gaglajur UP Chairman Habibur Rahman Habib, staff of various media, various representatives of the best field level and many others were present at the occasion.
It was informed at the meeting that a total of 560 farmers of four unions of Mohanganj upazila will be given various assistance including agricultural implements and seeds with the funding of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Of these, 300 farmers will be divided into 30 teams and trained in vegetable production, animal husbandry and fish farming and will be given various equipments to help them in this task. Officials said the work would be started as a pilot project to ensure food and nutrition security for farmers in the haor area. Agricultural workers will help to select the right farmers from the field level. The four unions of the upazila are Baratali-Banihari, Gaglajur, Tetulia and Suair.
