Nuruzzaman Liton, District Representative Naogaon
Allegations of assault and vandalism of furniture have been found in Naogaon’s Badalgachhi over a land-deposit dispute. The incident took place at around 11:30 am on Saturday in Chakla village of the upazila.
Ariful Islam Babu, son of Mozammel Hossain of Chakla village in historic Paharpur, said there had been a long-running dispute with neighboring Gauchul Gang over their land. Ariful’s father has sold 5 hundred acres of land to his neighbor Chaiful. Saiful’s house is on that land. When the mud house was demolished to make a house with Saiful bricks, the land was cleared on Saturday. At that time, a fight broke out between the two sides at one stage of the argument. Ariful’s mother’s two teeth were broken and her uncle Tozammel was admitted to Badalgachhi Health Complex with injuries.
Ariful further said that the opponents entered his house and vandalized the television, dressing table, cupboard and other furniture of the house. While talking to the opponent Gauchul on his mobile phone, Ariful was abusing us through the window of his house. At this time we threw 1 stone through his window into his room. However, they were not beaten and the furniture was not vandalized. In our trap, Ariful injured his mother and uncle and smashed the furniture of the house on his own.
Buyer Saiful said, I bought 5 hundred acres of land from Ariful’s father. Gauchul claims to have 2 hundred acres of land inside that land and tries to take it out. The incident centered on the incident. At that time we were cultivating land to the east. Ariful became the plaintiff in this regard and filed a case against 21 people at Badalgachhi police station.
Paharpur UP chairman Mizanur Rahman Kishore said there had been a long-running dispute over their land. I have arbitrated many times. They don’t come to a solution.
The investigating officer of the case, SI Sama of Badalgachhi police station, said that if we had not rushed to the spot immediately, a major accident would have taken place. Defendants beat and injured several people. Two of them were admitted to the hospital and two or three received initial treatment. Officer-in-charge of the police station Chowdhury Jobayer Ahmed said if the police did not control the situation, there would have been a big clash. The accused have been absconding since the incident.
